For Ideas People and the Highly Ambitious (In Faith)

Other "ideas" people and highly ambitious people may find this helpful. Some of us really have trouble keeping our feet on the ground, and we justify it with our faith. In sales, as a Christian, it is so easy think that God just "led" me to a certain place or person and this person MUST buy from me! We forget that there are many other forces at work. God is not pleased with us if we neglect the warnings He gave us, like the other spiritual forces that prowl around seeking to devour us. He also doesn't like it if we don't do what He commanded in His Word, like work within the Body of Christ, and keep a clear conscience.

Should i depend on family for any assistance to while I'm working a risky job, or even in a job search itself? We should always depend on family and friends for assistance. They will help in whatever way they can, and it's their responsibility to control what and how much they do. We can also go to other entities. Perhaps our church has special funds or assistance programs, or government programs. It's not wrong to ask, and asking is part of Life.

Should I take risks based on faith?
Taking uncalculated and unaffordable risks is not being faithful to God. It's chasing dreams, and asking God to do miracles, both of which the Bible speaks against. We have to operate on the notion that even in our most transfigured state, we are still fallible human beings who are called to function within the realms of the Body of Christ, and conscience, which come from God's Word and Sacraments.

As always, I recommend the Lutheran Church, Missouri Synod for a church home, or the Wisconsin Synod, if you need one. Neither one is perfect, but they are highly organized and work very hard to do everything based on God's Word, not on whims and fancies, for the same reason presented here: many spiritual forces are at work, and we are fallible human beings.

Feeling down about your small business these days? Is the broken economy hurting your sales and keeping you up at night? Need some motivation and tough love to help you stop pitying yourself? Well, here you go: 13 reasons you might have in your head about why you're not as successful as you should be.

#1 Reason You’re Not As Successful As You Should Be – Laziness

I don’t think there’s an easy way to put this. I have to assume that you’re lazy. Every single successful person works their butts off to get where they are. It’s ok to be lazy. Just admit it. But don’t whine about not being rich and successful, ok?

#2 Reason You’re Not As Successful As You Should Be – Entitlement

Only a few people in the world are part of the lucky sperm club. You and me? We gotta work to get what we want. Quit thinking you are owed something. You’re not. Get to work.

#3 Reason You’re Not As Successful As You Should Be – Fear

You are afraid, plain and simple. Afraid of looking silly. Afraid of what your friends and family will say. Afraid of everything. Look, you’re either going to stop being afraid, or you’re not. Nobody can convince you to stop. Imagine though... what awaits you when you stop with the fear excuses?

#4 Reason You’re Not As Successful As You Should Be – Negativity

You may not realize it, but the people you associate with might be negative [orifices]. They could be soul-sucking beings who don’t want anyone to be successful. Get rid of them, now! Surround yourself with successful people. People you want to be like.

#5 Reason You’re Not As Successful As You Should Be – Stop Thinking

How much do you want to bet you have paralysis by analysis? You think way too much about what you could or should do. Doers get what they want, and everyone else gets what they get. Stop analyzing and start doing.

#6 Reason You’re Not As Successful As You Should Be – No Goals

You plan nothing. You believe that someway, somehow, everything you always wanted will just magically happen. So you “play it by ear” and wait. You need goals to shoot for. Otherwise, you’re just treading water.

#7 Reason You’re Not As Successful As You Should Be – “They”

There’s no “they”. There’s no secret group of people that controls your success or failure. You’ve made that up to make you feel better about yourself. The truth is you, and you alone, control your success in life/business/everything. It’s easy to blame “them” though, isn’t it? Weak.

#8 Reason You’re Not As Successful As You Should Be – No “X” Factor

You can’t do it because you’re not pretty enough. Or don’t have a strong personality? You don’t have the “X” factor? Wow, what an unbelievably lame excuse. The truth is even jerks, idiots and boring people can be just as successful as anyone else. Your problem is you don’t believe it yet.

#9 Reason You’re Not As Successful As You Should Be – Time Waste

You’re a classic time-waster. You spend hours and hours every day working on not-working. You do things that aren’t productive. How are you ever going to get anything done, or reach any goal if you keep wasting time? You’re not. So you might as well give up now if you’re going to keep this path.

#10 Reason You’re Not As Successful As You Should Be – Social B.S.

You spend way too much time in social media land.  You waste probably about 50% of your productive hours of the day doing this. The sad part is, you know it, but you can’t stop. So you can’t get anything done that matters.

#11 Reason You’re Not As Successful As You Should Be – Think Small

You think way too small. You are constantly looking only a day or a week ahead instead of years ahead. Because of this, you never get anywhere, and you never lead; you always follow.

#12 Reason You’re Not As Successful As You Should Be – Don’t Want It

You don’t really want to be successful. Sure, you like to dream about it like everyone else. But in your heart you are afraid of what might happen if you really get it. That’s B.S. fear your brain is feeding you. Success is change, and it feels really, really good. Tell your brain to shut the [foolishness] up.

#13 Reason You’re Not As Successful As You Should Be – Don’t Believe

You never believed that it’s possible. Society taught you that only a few “exceptional” people get what they want. Everyone else should just settle. If you really want to believe that, go ahead. The rest of us will be at the front of the line because we believe.

MY COMMENT:

It's amazing how we think everything depends on our intellect. I wish the author would have mentioned the spiritual connection. His points can be found in the Bible, which teaches the whole Truth. But here, separated from the Word of God, it uses God's teaching but takes the person of God out of it, as if God will always respond to you with success if you think this way. I was just recently enjoying tremendous success making sales. Then I sinned this week - I did something I know God didn't want me to do. Suddenly the people I was trying to close sales with started changing their minds, coming up with excuses and skepticism. And that could result in me not making quotas and eventually cause my termination. And this has NOTHING to do with my attitude. God changes hearts. Being successful is having more of life as you understand and like it to be. Jesus Christ said that He IS Life. When He has someone who is listening to Him, He will not let the person be "successful" if they're living in sin. That person will get to their "happy place" without him. He rescues us from a "beautiful" short life to hold on to us for ETERNAL LIFE. Real success is simply found in knowing by faith that God has saved you from all your sins through Jesus' sacrifice of His own Life to pay the price. God will put you where He wants and needs you to be in this life!

Please leave your feedback so we can reach out to the lost, and help them in their sales career as well.

TV Ads and Marketing for Lutheran Schools

This is the company I work for, and here is some great information about our programs. I think this is something that Lutheran Schools could afford to do in groups. What I'm wondering is:

  1. Since they're usually charging tuition anyway, then what else can they do financially?
  2. Even though it's an outreach of the congregation that founded the school, in what ways can the school make its own decisions?
  3. Would the church make the decision to put out marketing/outreach messages in the community, in order to bring children into the schools?
Please pass this along to someone so we can get more ideas. I want to see a commercial on the soon, if possible.

========== Unified Companies Email ==========

I'd like to present to you the opportunity to market the Lutheran schools on TV, as well as through other marketing services. We'll also give you a free listing in 2 online directories and a free marketing analysis just to show you that we care about you.

What if TV advertising were an option for small businesses? It is one of the smartest marketing decisions a company can make, which is why the big companies keep doing it. TV offers returns 10 times greater than radio and print. I hope you can sense the potential like I can: 30,000 people in your area watching your commercial every airing! 160 airings per month! Once someone's been exposed to your name just 9 times - according to marketing studies - they'll make the decision to BUY from YOU! And that's how it works. You only need to choose the networks that are right for your clientele, and how much air time you would like.

The best way to utilize TV advertising is through Unified Companies' package deal known as UnifiedBizClub. You will receive a number of helpful marketing services, including:
  • Commercial television airing for three months in your Zone,
  • More TV advertising options like short 5-, 10-, and 15-second spots,
  • 1-year listings in the UnifiedBizClub and gosmallbiz.com directories
  • Internet advertising,
  • Web hosting with email,
  • A professional web-based video,
  • Print advertising in the forms of mailers and publications, and
  • LegalShield(sm) legal business protection.
I have also included some of our clients' commercials for you to see our work. Their businesses have become a brand, and are growing in their communities right now! Because TV advertising is now affordable for small businesses, don't let your competition get ahead of you. So click the Get Started Now button to go directly to the registration form.  If you would like me to walk you through it or answer your questions, just call me at 866-936-0515 x12, or email me. I'll be happy to help you! It's possible that soon you're going to be on TV!

Anyway, I do thank you for your time and consideration, and God's blessings on your business!

Response From a Christian on Jim Rohn's Advice

(My own advertisement for a creative project that needs your help: Please support this Christian outreach project for Christmas. I don't have the funds to do this myself. https://sites.google.com/site/santacartoonbook/. Thank you so much for your help! It will be wonderful to sell this book in bookstores across the country.)

I watched this for work. I have to say that I am appalled by Jim Rohn's twisting of Bible verses, taking the Lord out of them and using them to his own advantage. Jim Rohn's philosophies, blasphemy in the first 2 min. It sure is difficult for the rich to enter into the Kingdom of Heaven. I know he's passed away, and I hope and pray that he was a Christian. It sure doesn't sound like it in this clip.

I took notes on his points, and wrote a response intended to be a more Christian way of saying what he "figured out." I'm sorry it's so messy. I hope it's still legible.

Jim Rohn's advice in italics
My Response in regular print

success is something you attract  have faith - act out what you believe to be true. If it's true, people will see God's glory and be attracted to it. The world wants eternal life...without God. They study Christian life and try to copy it while taking God out.
work hard on self, and make a fortune Seek first Kingdom of Heaven

twists Bible verses, takes God out

if you search, you will find, therefore finding is for searchers

if 2-3 agree on a binding purpose, nothing is impossible

getting people to work together

the power of "let's"
have faith. Everything starts with ideas, then conflict, then agreement, then contracts, then money, then materials, whether it's Godly or unGodly. But if we're seeking after the Lord, He's not going to let us have something He doesn't want us to have. It would be pretty embarrassing to build an empire only to find out it's build on sand.
power of recognition & reward naturally we go toward what gives positive results, and recognition and rewards certainly build comradery and feelings of accomplishment. But is the Lord rolling his eyes, or is He also taking part in the reward? As the giver of the compliment, to not judge too harshly, I think the Lord wants us to listen for His voice. If it doesn't sound like Him, just keep looking for what does, either in that person, or outside of that person. So for example, if you're looking for McDonald's and the person says, "Would you like to try a Whopper meal?" then you're in the wrong place.
be so busy giving recognition that you don't need it for yourself Be content with your lot in life, and think of others more highly than yourself.
greatest sklll that changed my life was

1. communication, hopefully he learned that loving others is greater, and includes communication as well.

2. teaching Some people have it, and some don't. It's a gift from God. You can learn it, but if you don't have it, God probably wants you to team up with someone who has it. The reason why it's so important is that it passes along the Name. The Lord's name, and any other name we try to operate under, within His Name, of course
not just training

3. setting goals Again, seek His Face, and seek the kingdom of heaven and His righteousness. Everything else will be added. Preface everytyhing with,"If it's the Lor'ds will..." Ask for something, and there are ways in which the Lord will give it to you, possibly even immediately. He's a real person and He's really listening. You may think that something is what you want, but when you finally have it, it makes you sad or angry. Example: marrying someone you don't truly love, Another: What sports car was discontinued recently? Imagine saving up for that for years. Don't worry about tomorrow. Each day has enough trouble of its own. If it's important enough to keep seeking the next day, keep asknig the Lord for it, and you'll be focused and working toward it the Lord won't let you forget it if He wants you to have it, and you'll be free of your stress.

4. Celebrate accomplishments of the goals There is a time for rejoicing!
A little note about seeking money. The Lord knows you sometimes need it, and that you usually just want the resources you can buy with it. It can be used as a measuring stick, if, for example, you need a down payment for a house, etc. but you can't serve both God and money. Having money for the sake of having that much money will not prove to be rewarding, or healthy for a spiritual life.

Host: What did you have to change first about yourself?
Get an appetite for learning ina manner that will help you to change
(Buddhism? Taoism?)
Christians tend to start a little deeper: We're rotten on the inside and we need a whole new Life!

Develop my library, knowledge, awareness
Bible, prayer, and church (also including reading materials written by other Christians, blogs, texts, etc.) We don't throw out what professing non-Christians say. We still seek the Voice of the Good Shephard there, also. Perhaps the Lord is calling the non-Christian who is trying to teach us.

What you think about is like the sail. No matter how the storm blows, if you have a place you want to arrive at, you have to adjust the sail. That's your thinking, ideas, information. Being short on that will cause you difficulty in the future.
We should be careful with physical objects that the Lord has already used in the Bible. If God created it, it was for His glory, adn for us to glorify Him. If He gave it to us as an example, it was for us to understand our relationship with Him better. Paul talked about ships and rudders, and interestingly enough, water usually refers to new life and people and wind is the Holy Spirit. Remember the Lord's breath on the disciples, and Him saying "Receive the Holy Spirit"? Elijah and the gentle wind? When God says that we are salt of the earth, that means that salt was created so that we would understand how we are like salt. We were in mind first, salt was second. Changing their significance can actually set us back spiritually.

Freely Giving and Asking vs. Trading

Trying to understand ways of living with economics in life.

The crux of this contemplation is the differing ideas of giving freely and asking for what we want, vs. trading we have of value with someone who wants it, to get something of value that we want for ourselves.

Trade with people what's of value. give them a good or service, agree to get something in return. You got what you need, I got what I need. Now let me give you something for free!  The Gospel. Along with it, my time and energy to tell you about it. Can be born out of things that we pick up about the other person through the love in our hearts. This idea seems to respect others as human beings with their own self will, autonomy, and direction in life, possibly with us as Christians, possibly not. It also seems to be keeping the Gospel out of the worldly transaction of trading to meet our own needs. It sounds selfish,  regarding the idea of just trading with others and contingent upon the mutual capability of interacting.

Contemplating expressing my opinions and understanding about God's Word and how it applies to the sales process. People should do what they can in their careers to express their own faith. We trade in terms of worldly things. We talk freely giving of or own time and energy to express what we believe to be helpful to someone else about God's Word, based on our loving understanding of threat person, also telling them about what part of the church body we got it from. It doesn't sound right to give someone God's Word, and then ask for money for it. The Bible says not to sell God's Word for profit. We give money to the church, and the church pays the pastor, because the pastor gives his full time to the administration of God's Word, which is also in the Bible.

Freely giving and asking for what we want are also concepts in the Bible. And what makes it seem to be more Godly, compared to trading, is that you can approach every person as a potential best friend, and you selflessly give to their need. That person may not be the one to supply what you need for yourself. The Spirit may lead you to ask for your needs from someone else who has plenty. To me this seems to integrate the Body of Christ, and subjugates our worldly sustainability to our faith.

I've spent my morning giving this blog and Bible study freely to others, and asking for something in return. Now I'm going to go back to my traditional job search trade what I can do for a paycheck. I think this really comes down to this blog being a Bible study, and that's something that people should get from their church, not from me. But what if I've said something that their church doesn't say? Then it came from my theological background, which my church teaches. That's from the "give and ask" approach not the trade approach.

Biblical concepts:
Never sell God's Word for profit (2 Cor. 2:17)
Giving freely (Matt. 10:8)
Ask, and you will receive (Matt. 7:8)
Do not even ask, "What shall we eat?" (Matt. 6:31)
The Lord being sick, hungry, and in prison, and us caring for Him (Matt. 25:35)
Talk about God's Word as you go along, and write in on your door frames (Deut. 6:9)
